Ko wai mātou?
WHO ARE WE?

- Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi

Kō wai te Iwi e ngā ngunguru atu nei...

Ko te rōpu, o Ngāti Unu. Kei te mahi i āna mahi.
Nō reira, Ngāti Unu, kia kaha, kia toa.

Kei mate tātou i te whakamā.

Hinemārama

Ko Hinemārama te papa o te tahiti!

Hinemārama, our whare kai, stands on the whenua of Ngāti Unu, Ngāti Kahu - Matakaro. Hinemārama has provided warm hospitality to her descendants and visitors for generations.

Hinemārama of Ngāti Kahupungapunga is the illustrious wife of Unu (the tupuna whare).

Unu

Ko Unu te Tangata!

Unu our tupuna whare stands on the bank of the mystic Waipā river. He welcomes his descendants and his manuwhiri to the domain of Ngāti Unu & Ngāti Kahu.

Unu, the warrior ancestor, is the famed husband of Hinemārama. Unu, son of Mōtai, would give his name to his descendants.
Hence Ngāti Unu.
