MEI WĀNANGA
Updated: May 13
We invite all hapū members of Ngāti Unu, Ngāti Kahu, Te Kōpua Marae to attend our monthly wānanga. This year we celebrate 25 years of delivering wānanga, Te Whare Kōrero o Unu.
FRI 02 MEI - SUN 04 JUNE | The marae is open from 4pm, kai is at 6pm and Karakia starts at 7pm
For those participating in the Awanuiārangi program, we will begin with Mahi Marae: Mana Atua – specifically “the importance of mentoring and leadership on the marae” and what “a tuakana-teina relationship looks like on the marae”. A soft-copy of the assignment booklet will be provided for this session.
You will also have the opportunity to learn about the history of our whānau, hapū, whakapapa, whenua, karanga, whai kōrero and what makes us unique as Ngāti unu, Ngāti Kahu
We are also excited to announce that we will be hosting a special planting day on Saturday, 3rd June 2023, dedicated to restoring our ngahere, taking care of our native wildlife and most important this kaupapa id dedicated to ngā whetu o Matariki. There will be 60+ natives such as Kanuka, Kawakawa and more!
Bring your kamuputu, outdoor clothing, a raincoat just in case and a positive attitude!
We encourage our members to stay for the wānanga, beginning Friday evening

Please remember to bring kai to share , your own (warm) blankets , sheets, pillows and pillowslips, warm clothes, toiletries, pen, paper, camera, recording devices and most of all bring a willingness to listen and learn!
This is an Adult program so if you have tamariki, you are responsible for them
We all help with cooking, cleaning and dishes. Heat pumps, hot water and wifi facilities are also available for Wānanga attendees.
Nau mai, haere mai!
There’s a bunch of us “cuzzies” excited to have you join us! See you at the Pā!
